Food is any substance consumed by living organisms, including liquid drinks. Food is the main source of energy and of nutrition for animals, and is usually of animal or plant origin.
• Any substance that can be metabolized by an organism to give energy and build tissue
a Any solid substance (as opposed to liquid) that is used as a source of nourishment; “food and drink”

Food is important for life. To be healthy and active, we should certainly have enough food. But the foods we eat should also be safe and rich in all the nutrients our body needs. We should choose from a wide variety of foods and we should eat them regularly, throughout the day, every day of the year. Do not forget that we should also enjoy the food that we eat; it should look, smell and taste good. Without good nutrition, children and young people cannot develop their potential to the full, and adults will have difficulty in doing their best.

WHAT IS FOOD SCIENCE

WHAT IS FOOD SCIENCE
Good health can be maintained only by good food and healthy eating. Healthy foods also maintain physical, emotional, spiritual and positivistic health.

Healthy eating is the practice of making choices abOut what or how much one eats with the intention of improving or maintaining good health. Typically this means following recommendations of “experts” regarding a nutritional diet.
The concept of healthy eating is primarily a problem in rich countries where the lifestyle includes little physical exercise, a large food intake, and a trend towards factory-processed foods instead of home-cooked meals. Unfortunately, the main food problems for most of the people in the planet are lack thereof or malnutrition.
